I was a kid and we had a community of kids that shared a giant backyard before fences went up. We started a soccer game across the field of conjoined backyards except for the kids directly across from us. They were super jerkish. They werent keen to play with us despite numerous invites and just had a preference for being assholish and unneighbourly. This day, they decided they didnt want to join us in our soccer game. Instead, they drew their property line with a roll of toilet paper right through the middle of our soccer field, and stood at the periphery yelling that we couldnt cross their line. I got so fed up especially because their presence hugely impacted the game and the dozen or so kids that came out to play. I had just finished eating an Oh Henry bar. I reached down and picked up a bit of doggy turd that happened to be there and I offered it to one of the kids. It was a spontaneous, seemless and unthinking move. The idiot kid watched me do it and still, he took the turd from the wrapper and put it in his mouth. I think it was his dogs turd at that. Dumb kid. Anyways, Im not sure how I feel about it today. Im about as ignorant about health concerns to do with eating shit as much now as I was then. I just hope there werent any health repercussions. Still, the whole thing sits with me today, decades later. I definitely feel the guilt, maybe a bit of remorse, especially if that kid grew up to be a great human being maybe a little less so if he did not.
