I was born and raised in Crimea, Southern Ukraine. Being inspired by my father, I followed in his footsteps to become a surgeon myself. I was a thirdyear surgical resident in Ukraine when the fullscale invasion started. After working there during the beginning and most chaotic phase of war, I received an opportunity to continue my training in the U.S. as a research fellow at CSPH under the mentorship of Dr. Melnitchouk, where I focused over the next two years on improving surgical education, trauma care, and telehealth back in my homeland. Eventually, I was privileged to match as a preliminary surgery resident at Brigham. Now, I am seeking a categorical position to become a U.S.trained surgeon and continue my humanitarian and global health mission in Ukraine and beyond.
