Dear Admissions Committee, It is my pleasure to recommend Johnson Lawal for admission to the Master’s program in Management Information Systems and Digital Innovation at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Having worked with Johnson closely twice over the past decade—first as his supervisor during his software engineering internship in 2014, and more recently in 2023 in his role as a Product Manager at Bincom Global—I have had the privilege of watching him grow from a promising intern into a highly capable professional. Over the years, he has consistently proven himself to be driven, innovative, and exceptionally talented, with remarkable technical skills and an unrelenting curiosity for learning. From the beginning, Johnson stood out for his dedication to problem-solving and his proactive approach to any challenge. In his role reporting directly to me, he quickly demonstrated a strong grasp of technical details and a keen ability to connect them to larger organisational goals. I watched him repeatedly take the initiative to research new product ideas, analyse their potential, and present well-rounded recommendations with pros and cons— enhancing our strategic discussions. His work was always carefully thought-out, well-prepared, and delivered with an attention to detail that was rare. One of Johnson’s standout qualities is his ability to independently research a subject, master its complexities, and inspire others to engage with his vision. Recently, he volunteered to participate in the company’s Labs by Bincom program, a six-month accelerator for aspiring founders, where he quickly built a team and was unanimously chosen as team leader. His natural ability to inspire and motivate his teammates was clear, as he kept them focused on shared goals and regularly introduced new ideas that kept engagement high. Under Johnson’s leadership, the team presented a compelling project proposal for an innovative app idea called CalendarChat to our management—an achievement that highlighted his strong leadership, vision, and project management abilities. This experience not only honed his project management skills but also reflects the kind of innovative, structured approach that will support his success in LSE’s Management Information Systems and Digital Innovation program. In addition, Johnson’s outstanding communication skills have further solidified his role as a leader and innovator. He has a unique talent for translating complex technical concepts into accessible language for both technical and non-technical audiences. When I invited him to speak at the organisation’s Open Day event, he shared the story of his tech journey with clarity to over 30 aspiring tech professionals, inspiring them with his story, insights and answers during the Question and Answer session. Our discussions on technology and product innovation are always marked by his clarity and passion, reflecting his genuine dedication to knowledge-sharing and community-building in the industry. In the ten years I have known him, I have watched Johnson develop from a talented intern into a globally-minded professional who is fully prepared for the demands of graduate study. His calm, analytical approach to complex challenges, coupled with his resilience under pressure, makes him exceptionally well-suited to LSE’s program. I have no doubt that Johnson will bring meaningful contributions to the field, leveraging his skills and insights to push boundaries and drive progress. I give Johnson Lawal my highest recommendation for admission to LSE’s Management Information System and Digital Innovation program, confident that he will be an invaluable addition to your academic community.
