If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have no joy, I am become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so that I can remove mountains, but have no good, I am nothing. And if I give away all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but have no knowledge of the Holy Spirit, it profits me nothing. [Zech. 154A.] The spiritual light within the son suffers long, is kind, the spiritual light does not envy, the spiritual light does not exalt itself, is not puffed up, does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil, does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes, hopes all things, endures all things. The spirit united with knowledge and faith never fails. Though prophecies will fail, and tongues will cease, and knowledge will be done away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part will pass away. [Zach. 154B.] When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I reasoned as a child. But when I became a man, I put away childish things. Now we see through a glass darkly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know even as I am known. And now abide faith, hope, joy, these three; but the greatest of these is joy.
