With the impact of my father, I knew that I wanted to study physics for the rest of my life. This led me to attend the University of Copenhagen in 1903, where I was taken under the wing of Professor C. Christiansen, a highly-gifted physicist. In 1908, my eyes were opened by the Academy of Sciences in Copenhagen as they were rewarding an individual who could come up with a solution to a certain scientific problem. This pushed me to do experimental and theoretical investigations of surface tension using oscillating fluid jets in my father’s laboratory. My solution fulfilled the problem and I won a gold medal, leading to my work being published in the Transactions of the Royal Society. This was one of my best achievements within my university experience. After eight long years of university, I received my Master’s degree in Physics in 1909 and my Doctor’s degree in 1911.
